Saskatchewan Waste Reduction Council (SWRC) promotes circular economy principles, including keeping materials in use at their highest value as long as possible. Repair is key to that effort. We work to foster a culture of repair, and Repair Café events are one way to establish that culture.
SWRC coordinates several Repair Café events around the province, and also works to encourage community members and local organizations to take on hosting Repair Cafés themselves. We act as a hub, helping promote all Repair Café events across Saskatchewan, and staying connected with them to provide resources as needed.
SWRC’s work on Repair Cafes is sponsored by Affinity Credit Union, which we are very grateful for.
Event Information
A Repair Café is a pop-up, one day event where the public can bring in household items to be fixed for free by volunteers. With the help of volunteers that will be offering their knowledge and skills, Repair Cafes encourage us to consider repairing items rather than throwing them away.
Each event is unique, meaning the types of volunteers that will offer advice will vary. Some examples could include:
- Computers
- Audio/Visual Equipment
- Wooden Items
- Small Engines
- Clothing and Textiles
- Darning
- Stuffie/Toy Repair
- Small Electronics
- Bike Repair
- Costume Jewelry Repair
- Knife Sharpening
- Shoe Maintenance & Repairs
- General Repairs

Register here if you’re interested in volunteering as a repair coach for any community in Saskatchewan.
Keep in mind that we cannot guarantee the repair of all items. Please read these general rules.
If you’d like to host a Repair Café in your city or town, contact SWRC and we can provide resources and advice!
We want to thank Repair Café International and the Fixit Clinic for resources and inspiration and Affinity Credit Union for being our Presenting Sponsor.
